Call for Editors and Themes for Issue 12 of The Learner Development Journal (LDJ12) – Deadline: July 31st 2026
We invite a new team of editors to propose a theme for Issue 12 of The Learner Development Journal (https://ldjournal.ld-sig.org/issues/ldj12-call-for-editors/) for publication in November/December 2028.
Each issue of the LDJ is led and edited by a different team of editors who first create a proposal on a particular learner development theme; then, once their proposal is accepted, they prepare a Call for Proposals to bring together a group of contributors with shared interests in exploring that theme together over 12-18 months. This Community of Practices approach offers plenty of support and reflective space for sharing and developing inquiries and writing together.
Example themes include (but are not limited to) learner development practices, puzzles, stories, and inquiries to do with:
- AI-assisted/enhanced learner development
- autonomy-supportive learning environments
- content and language integrated learning (CLIL)
- creative arts
- critical literacy and social justice
- digital literacy
- exploratory action research (EAR)
- fully inclusive practitioner research (FIPR)
- learner agency and autonomy
- learning advising and counselling
- peer (and/or group) reflective dialogue
- project-based learning (PBL)
- self- and peer-evaluation
- self-regulation
- socio-emotional learning
- translanguaging
- …
For full details and guidelines about putting together a proposal, see https://ldjournal.ld-sig.org/guidelines-for-editors. It would be great to hear from you by July 31st about your ideas for LDJ12.
And if you have any questions or would like to check any details along the way, simply email us at <ldjournaljsg@gmail.com> and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Many thanks.
All the best,
Huw Davies, Yuri Imamura, & Andy Barfield, LDJ steering group
